Food Lion banners and Bottom Dollar Food have honored Emory Turner with their 2009 Store Manager Excellence Award. Turner, store manager of the Harveys Supermarket on 246 South Main Street in Reidsville, Ga., was chosen from a group of seven other divisional winners.

“This award is truly an honor,” said Turner, a Harveys employee and store manager for the past 10 years. “I am grateful to be recognized along with this admirable group of store managers and appreciate all of the hard work and dedication put forth by our great team at the store in Reidsville and by the Harveys banner team.” The Vidalia, Ga., resident’s previous honors include being named the divisional winner for the Harveys banner in the 2008 Store Manager Excellence Awards.

“Emory is the epitome of a great store manager,” noted Harveys VP and COO Tom Robinson. “He is a leader amongst his peers and exemplifies the traits that Harveys is known for. Emory is a humble man who loves what he does and I could not be prouder of him. His legacy at Harveys will be his years of training others, his flair for localized merchandising, and his commitment to the people in the community he works and lives in.”

The Store Manager Excellence Award selection encompasses nine areas of focus: associate development, leadership, strategic decision-making, cross-organizational collaboration and teamwork, executional excellence, extraordinary results, great customer experiences, community involvement, and diversity and inclusion. Divisional winners are picked from a group of 24 regional winners and over 100 district winners. The seven other divisional winners this year were Lloyd Blydenburgh, Food Lion Northeastern Market, Ashland, Va; Joe Bove, Food Lion Mid-Atlantic Market, Garner, N.C.; Merima Cuturic, Food Lion Southwestern Market, Charlotte, N.C.; Kenric Rivers, Food Lion Southeastern Market, Charleston, S.C.; Bill Williams, Bloom, Dumfries, Va.; James Morton, Bottom Dollar Food, Asheboro, N.C.; and John Davis, Reid’s, Cayce, S.C.

Based in Salisbury, N.C., Food Lion, LLC operates over 1,300 supermarkets, either directly or through affiliated entities, under the Food Lion, Bloom, Harveys or Reid’s banners. The Food Lion family employs about 74,000 associates in 11 Southeast and Mid-Atlantic states. Bottom Dollar Food, also based in Salisbury, operates 28 stores in North Carolina, Virginia and Maryland. Both entities are divisions of Belgian retail conglomerate Delhaize Group.
