New Jersey Food Council Hires Director of Government Affairs

May 5, 2010

Mike DeLoreto has joined the New Jersey Food Council (NJFC) as director of government affairs. DeLoreto was previously chief of staff for New Jersey Assemblyman Reed Gusciora, Democrat, and interned for former State Sen. Leonard Lance, who is now a Republican U.S. Representative.

A certified treasurer with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC), DeLoreto brings to his new position experience in developing and interpreting legislation and regulations, and acting as a liaison with government agencies. He is also adept at planning PAC endorsements, fundraising activities and developing government affairs strategies.

When the New Jersey State Legislature returns for the spring session, unemployment insurance fund reform, the proposed state budget and liquor licensing will be at the top of the NJFC agenda.

The Trenton-based NJFC has more than 400 members representing over 1,200 retail food stores, wholesalers, manufacturing and service companies.
