RILA Names VP Communications and Advocacy

The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) has hired Jason
Brewer as its VP of communications and advocacy. As part of the
organization’s communications team, Brewer will promote RILA’s
activities with external audiences. His last most recent position
was a three-year stint as senior media manager at the National
Federation of Independent Business (NFIB).
“With more than 10 years of communications and public affairs
experience, Jason’s is uniquely suited for his role at RILA,” said
RILA president Sandy Kennedy. He will be a strong advocate for RILA
and our members.”
At NFIB, Brewer developed media and political strategies, as well
as working with state and regional staff, media and lawmakers on
relevant issues. Before joining that organization, He spent three
years as the deputy director of communications for the Michigan
Speaker of the House, where his duties included developing caucus
messaging, writing speeches for the Speaker of the House,
coordinating with interest groups to form effective communications
coalitions on major issues before the legislature, and
collaborating with policy teams to craft effective campaign
strategy. Brewer has additionally provided campaign messaging and
political assistance to candidates across Michigan.
Arlington, Va.-based RILA’s members include over 200 retailers,
product manufacturers and service suppliers.
