Jeff Culhane has joined Tops Markets, LLC as its new VP of perishable marketing. In his new role at the Williamsville, N.Y.-based Tops, Culhane will be directly responsible for the marketing and merchandising of all of the perishable departments, including meat, seafood, produce, floral, deli, bakery and the Carry-out Café.

“Jeff brings over 20 years of experience of the grocery retail industry and an in-depth knowledge of perishable marketing and operations to our team” said Frank Curci, Tops Markets’ president and CEO.

Culhane joins Tops from Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Meijer, Inc., where he was director of merchandise planning and replenishment for perishables. In that role, he was responsible for leading the meat, seafood, processed meat, produce, bulk foods, deli, bakery and cheese departments to achieve strategic and financial goals. Prior to that, Culhane was director of deli, foodservice and in-store bakery for the Penn Traffic Co. in based in Syracuse, N.Y.

A native of Rochester, N.Y., Culhane earned a MBA from Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., and a B.S. in business administration and B.A. in psychology from Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y.

Tops operates 131 full-service supermarkets — 126 company-owned and five franchise locations.
