
Sara Lee’s line of Soft & Smooth breads featuring
docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) omega-3 is the first nationally
distributed bread of its kind, according to the Downers Grove,
Ill.-based manufacturer. Available in Made with Whole Grain White
and 100% Whole Wheat varieties, the line gets its DHA omega-3
content from algae-based Life’s DHA by Columbia, Md.-based Martek
Biosciences Corp. Both bread varieties contain 12 milligrams of DHA
omega-3 per serving, which studies have linked to healthy brain
development. The line is also an excellent source of calcium. A
20-ounce package retails for a suggested $2.39 to $3.49, depending
